Smoking Swines
Project Overview
We designed and developed Smoking Swines as a content-first BBQ and recipe platform built to make bold food photography, practical cooking guidance, and the brand’s playful personality easy to explore. The website organizes smoked meats, cocktails, condiments, soups, and cooking resources into clear categories, while detailed recipe pages provide adjustable serving quantities, copy-friendly ingredient lists, step-by-step instructions, and built-in sharing tools. A flexible Sanity-powered publishing workflow gives Smoking Swines room to continually introduce new recipes, seasonal collections, cooking guides, and catering content without rebuilding the experience.
Design Strategy & Execution
Logo Design
A playful illustrated pig mascot paired with a bold, stacked wordmark gives Smoking Swines an identity that feels confident, approachable, and immediately connected to barbecue. The uncomplicated shapes and strong contrast keep the brand recognizable across the website, social media graphics, merchandise, favicons, and smaller digital placements.
Color Palette
The Smoking Swines color palette combines smoke black and warm butcher-paper neutrals with the playful pink used throughout the pig mascot and brand identity. Ember red and oak brown add heat and depth, reinforcing the website’s connection to live fire, smoked meats, bourbon, and backyard cooking.

Typography
The typography system uses bold display styling to give headlines and featured recipes a confident editorial voice, balanced by a highly legible text face for ingredients, measurements, instructions, and long-form cooking guides. Clear hierarchy, generous spacing, and scannable formatting keep recipe content easy to follow across mobile and desktop screens.
Project Outcome
The finished website gives Smoking Swines a fast, distinctive, and expandable home for its recipes and fire-driven food culture. Clear category navigation and structured recipe content make the growing library easier to discover and use, while newsletter, social media, and catering pathways help turn readers into an active audience and potential customers.
