Franklin Trains
Project Overview
Franklin Trains is a Shopify eCommerce store dedicated to O gauge model trains and accessories. The project was designed to capture the nostalgia and craftsmanship of model railroading while creating a modern online shopping experience. Beyond product sales, the website also features downloadable O gauge track plans, giving hobbyists inspiration and practical layouts to bring their train collections to life. Our branding and design strategy was built to balance the classic feel of model railroads with a bold, modern identity that stands out in the eCommerce space. The logo, typography, and color palette work together to create a sense of tradition, reliability, and enthusiasm for train enthusiasts of all ages.
Design Strategy & Execution
Logo Design
The Franklin Trains logo combines a stylized locomotive front with clean, modern typography. The symbol reflects the heart of the hobby—powerful engines that drive imagination—while the strong lettering conveys trust and accessibility for online shoppers.
Color Palette
We chose a deep navy background paired with a strong train-red accent to ground the brand in a sense of heritage and movement. The palette reflects both the precision of model building and the warmth of community that surrounds the hobby.

Rounded, approachable sans-serif fonts were used to maintain readability across devices and to complement the geometric strength of the logo. The typography helps the brand remain professional yet welcoming, appealing to seasoned collectors and newcomers alike.
